Inclusion & diversity
We are looking for three designers to join our team. After talking to quite a few people, by now I’ve realized finding the right persons will take some time.
We would rather grow a bit slower than to quickly fill the available seats with people who are not right for the job.
In times like these, I would like to repeat what is on the bottom of our job pages: a paragraph about inclusion and diversity.
If we want to design products for the world around us, then we need to design those products with a group of people that reflect the world around us. It is not only about race, gender or religious choice. It is about different points of view.
We believe we’ll be better off for it. This means that we make an explicit effort to look for people with diverse backgrounds, but a common interest in design to join our team. And we want to specifically encourage people from underrepresented groups to apply for a job.
We wrote this text two years ago and it’s on every job ad we put out. We got inspired by what Panic stated in their job ads (So hat tip to them!). I think diversity and inclusion is important and I truly believe that it will also lead to better design.
P.S. I would like to wish them good luck with their hardware project!
