User interface designer

Ghent, Belgium or remote*

Mono is looking for a UI designer with work experience. Someone who has a handle on modern design tools. Someone who loves screen design, prototyping and visual UI design. Someone who doesn’t shy away when they see a bit of front-end code.

We believe in the power of a team

Mono is a specialised team of designers. We go in together, get the job done and leave. Our end goal is to help our customers make valuable digital products. And we want them to be independent after our job is done.

We want our colleagues to be independent, too. We don’t impose a process on you. You have your own experience and it is what makes you great in the first place. We bet you can teach us a lot.

You need people and projects to challenge you. So we set out to build a place with the feel of freelancing and profoundness of a real design team. We feel like we are doing some of the best work of our careers. We would like you to feel that way too.

Tell me about the work

You will work on meaningful products like desktop software for dentists, mobile applications for the transport industry or a web app to manage ticketing.

You will analyse, explore, design, test and iterate. You will ask hard questions. Both to your colleagues and customers. Because you know asking better questions is the key to better solutions.

You can expect to learn from us, and we want to learn from you. This is a position that requires some experience. You want to work with people who already know how design works, and so do we. We want to work with people who are comfortable around customers and believe in the added value working as a team brings.

If you nodded yes a couple of times, let's get in touch. Who knows, maybe we will work together on the control panel for the next Mission to Mars?

*Within travel distance of Ghent (< 100km). We meet up at least weekly if not more.

Your computer is what helps you get the job done. We provide everyone with the right hardware to get their jobs done, from Macbooks to 4K monitors.

Inclusion & diversity

If we want to design products for the world around us, then we need to design those products with a group of people that reflect the world around us. It is not only about race, gender or religious choice. It is about different points of view. We believe we’ll be better off for it. This means that we make an explicit effort to look for people with diverse backgrounds, but a common interest in design to join our team. And we want to specifically encourage people from underrepresented groups to apply for a job.
